The One Junk Food I Simply Can’t Have In The House…

You know how it is. We all have that one weakness, that one fatty, salty or sweet temptation we simply can’t resist. In fact, most of us probably have a number of these junk food joys that soothe us when our nerves are frazzled, that comfort us when we feel sad, or that keep us company when we feel lonely.
The only problem is that, once the ’stocking up’ is over, the guilt kicks in…
When I was young, we always visited a beloved ‘boeretannie’ (aunt on a farm) in the Orange Free State here in South Africa. At night, just before we went to sleep, she would do her rounds with a tin filled with the most delicious, crunchy, aromatic, buttery, cheesy biscuits. I adored them, but never managed to get hold of that recipe.
A few years ago we moved to Caledon near Cape Town and low and behold, I rediscovered these identical biscuits in a local shop! I couldn’t believe it. The problem is that, once that packet is open, there is no way I can just eat one or two biscuits. After all, my last taste of them was around thirty years ago! How on earth can anyone expect me to be happy with one lousy, tiny biscuit? Who is to say that they won’t disappear again in the blink of an eye…
So, now I don’t feel guilty if I indulge, but I really, truly don’t buy them often. They are just for very special occasions and they manage to take me back to carefree childhood days every single time…
While we are on the subject of sugar-laden drinks, I am dying to know what your one weakness is as far as junk food is concerned. What is the one goodie that makes your willpower crumble every single time? What is the one fatty, sugary or salty thing that draws you like a magnet?
Use the comment section on this post and tell us about that one temptation the mere mention of has you salivating…

My weakness is pizza. Any pizza. Any topping. As long as the base is thin and crispy and the mozarella soft and stringy… Add some pineapple and salami and I am in pizza heaven. I don’t care about the mess or a shiny face. I just want to sink my teeth into the gooey goodness - again and again. And don’t you dare to approach me with a recipe for a low-fat pizza. Pizza was meant to be fatty and fattening. Tone it down, and it just isn’t pizza anymore. So, I rather choose to spend a few extra hours at the gym, so that I can have my pizza panacea when I feel like it. Now thá is a recipe that works!
