Choosing your juicer

Choosing a juicer can be quite a daunting task. I have a page that will take you to all my articles about the different types of juicers and some lively juicer reviews! Soon you will know exactly what the difference is between a centrifugal juicer and a masticating juicer.

If you are new to juicing, you can click on this link for all my articles on the basics of juicing for health. You will get lots of helpful tips to get you off to a confident start.

Please be patient with yourself if this is new to you. It may take a while to get used to all the new tastes and veggie combinations.

One of the most important things to remember is to start with the milder tasting vegetables, combined with some fruits for sweetness. This should give you time to adjust to juicing.

Great juice recipes to start with are those with ingredients such as cucumber, celery, zucchini, tomatoes or carrots. Then you can slowly start to add small quantities of greens such as spinach and romaine lettuce. Then try experimenting with a bit of cabbage or broccoli.

Veggies such as kale, watercress and beets are quite potent and strong tasting, so keep them for a bit later in the process and use them sparingly.

It is a good idea to alternate different fruits and veggies during the week. Just as you would not eat exactly the same dinner each night in order to ensure a balanced diet, don't prepare exactly the same juice recipe each day. Aim for variety to get a good mix of the most important nutrients during any one week.

Extra flavor for your juices!

You can alter the flavor of the juice with ingredients like fresh ginger, a bit of lime or lemon, some shredded coconut for sweetness or cranberries for a touch of tartness.

Sure it will! Of course it isn't a 'magic' solution that will slim you down overnight. You will still have to follow a healthy diet in general and make sure that you get enough exercise.
